You're not going to be able to be in films as a hobby, even extra work requires you to available when they need you, not when you feel like it. Bournemouth Uni has a famous film course where many young directors study and make student films as part of their coursework. If you aren't too committed you could try writing to them to see if they will bear you in mind when next filming. You won't get paid apart from expenses, but it can be good experience and good fun, and helps to build up a showreel - though remember you'll be against stiff competition from professionally trained actors, with agents, who are committed to their career.
