Why do people hate McCartney so much, and worship Lennon.?

I love and like Lennon more, but I don't hate McCartney. Kurt Cobain stated in many interviews how Lennon was his idol, and how he loved the Beatles but hated McCartney. Liam Gallagher named his son "Lennon Gallagher", Dolores O'riordan, Shakira, Rob Zombie, and many others always name him their favorite Beatle. I understand why allot people prefer Lennon, but it's not even a competition anymore it's more like 90% of fans like John and than 10% split between Paul, Goerge, and Ringo.
